Taking everyone up on the offers to help - here is what we need
I am having knee replacement surgery on the 20th and will be non-weight-bearing for 3 weeks then limited mobility for another 3. My husband Kevin travels for work Monday through Wednesday most weeks. We have two kids: Lily (9) and Sam (6).
Everyone keeps saying let me know what you need but I feel terrible actually asking. Here is our situation:
The first two weeks are the hardest. I cannot drive, cannot go up stairs, and cannot stand long enough to cook. Kevin will be home the first week but has to travel weeks 2 and 3.
We need: school pickup at 3:15 from Greenfield Elementary (car seats already in the car), dinners for 4 people (Sam is allergic to tree nuts), someone to walk our dog Pepper in the mornings when Kevin is traveling, help with laundry and light housekeeping once a week, and rides to my PT appointments on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 10 AM for 6 weeks starting week 2.
My sister Janet lives 5 minutes away. My parents are 20 minutes away but Dad cannot drive at night. Kevin's brother Marco is local and works from home. Kevin's mom offered to come stay but our guest room is upstairs and I will be sleeping on the main floor.
I want the email to go to about 8 family members. Nobody should feel obligated but I genuinely need the help.
