Subject: Database backup process - need this documented ASAP
Team - Sarah is out sick and we need the monthly backup procedure documented. Here's what I remember from watching her:
1. SSH to db-primary-01
2. Stop the application service first (something about avoiding locks)
3. Run the backup script in /opt/scripts - I think it's backup_monthly.sh
4. Wait for it to finish (takes about 2 hours)
5. Copy the backup file to S3 - there's a specific bucket
6. Restart the app service
7. Send confirmation to the compliance team
There's also some rollback process if the backup fails partway through, but I don't know the details. Sarah mentioned something about transaction logs and point-in-time recovery.
Can someone turn this into a proper runbook? We can't keep relying on tribal knowledge.
