Help drafting budget request for new robotics program
Hi,
I'm a 7th grade science teacher at Maplewood Unified and I'm trying to get approval for a robotics elective I want to launch next fall. I've been putting this off because every time I try to write the request it sounds like I'm just asking for stuff instead of making a real case.
Here's what I've got:
Program: Intro to Robotics elective, 1 semester, open to 6th-8th graders
What I need: 8 Zephyr BuildBot kits at $220 each, storage cart $180, teacher training workshop $350, consumables budget $200/year
Total first-year cost: approx $2,310
Who it serves: Up to 24 students per semester, two sections possible = 48 students per year
Why it matters: Our district has a career tech pathway goal. Robotics directly maps to coding, engineering, and problem-solving standards. Kids in the after-school club who've done similar projects have shown huge engagement jumps — one student who was failing math started staying after school to debug code.
I need to send this to Principal Deandra Okafor and CC the curriculum director, Tomás Villanueva. Can you help me write the full proposal email?
