Post-Operative Discharge Instructions: Arthroscopic Meniscectomy
The patient is to maintain non-weight-bearing status on the affected extremity for a period of not less than 72 hours post-procedure, utilizing the provided ambulatory assistive device. Cryotherapy should be administered to the surgical site for intervals of 20 minutes with 40-minute intermissions to mitigate edematous response and manage pain perception.
Pharmacological intervention: Ibuprofen 800mg to be administered orally every 8 hours as necessitated for anti-inflammatory and analgesic purposes. In the event of inadequate pain management, hydrocodone/acetaminophen 5/325mg may be utilized every 6 hours as prescribed, not to exceed 4 doses in a 24-hour period.
The patient should remain vigilant for signs of surgical site infection, including but not limited to: erythema extending beyond the immediate perimeter of the incision, purulent drainage, pyrexia exceeding 101.5 degrees Fahrenheit, or progressive edema not responsive to cryotherapy.
Follow-up appointment to be scheduled within 7-10 business days post-procedure.
