Can you write this up as a formal peer observation? We use Danielson at our school. This is formative, not evaluative.
My notes from today:
Ms. Rivera, 3rd period Algebra 1, 28 students
Started with a warm-up problem on the board - students working independently, most engaged, 3-4 students in back not started after 2 min. She circulated but didn't get to back row before moving on.
Transition to direct instruction - explained solving two-step equations. Good use of think-aloud strategy, showed her reasoning process. Pacing felt fast for the room.
Students worked practice problems in pairs. She used popsicle sticks to call on pairs for answers - good randomization. One pair clearly confused, she spent 3 min with them which was great but other pairs started chatting.
No visible differentiation for the 4-5 students who finished early - they just sat there. Exit ticket at end was a single problem, collected on paper.
Classroom was organized, anchor charts on walls were relevant. Positive tone throughout, called students by name, said "I like how you showed your work" to one student.
Bell rang mid-exit ticket, about half the class turned theirs in.
